Putting real value on design
Most studios cost on a historical basis. Their rate is based on what they think their previous employer charged. Or it is based on what they previously charged.
The Job pricing eTutorial will show you how to develop an accurate job costing system based on the cost of running your studio. It will show you how to get added return on your design work by increasing productivity and putting a value on design.
This eTutorial helps graphic designers work out what it costs to run their business and how to convert that into a job pricing system.

What they said...
Completing the Design Business Council workshop on Job Pricing a couple of years ago was an important step forward for us managing and maintaining our design studio's ongoing profitability.
After 20 years of running a 'successful' design studio, it was gratifying to have what we were doing 'right' re-affirmed, and sobering to see where, as a business, we were still cutting ourselves short. As creatives, we aren't always writing with the business tip of the pen!
Now the new online Job Pricing tutorial version expands on the previous workshop course – and is a joy to navigate and absorb from the comfort of one's own studio chair (and around busy schedules!).
This tutorial is an eye-opening, practical, straightforward and easy to digest (but not dumbed-down) approach to providing valuable information – and a must for any design service business.
Now I have a more watchful eye on the business bottom line, and feel better equipped and confidently informed about placing an accurate hourly cost on the premium, value-added service we offer our clients.
Many thanks to Greg Branson and Carol Mackay for producing such an essential, well communicated design business resource, and so generously spreading their experience and wisdom.
